In this post, I will be reviewing another protein bar from the immensely popular brand Quest. These bars are seemed to be everywhere in recent times, in just about every store I go to and all over the internet, so it seems to me that these bars deserve my attention. I have not tried most of the flavors yet, and this time I will taste the Quest Bar Birthday Cake Protein Bar. I reviewed the Mint Chocolate Chunk, Moca Chocolate Chip and the White Chocolate Raspberry Quest bars already.
There are many more flavors to follow, and this flavor I picked up at the corner convenience store. Let’s see what this bar tastes like. I must admit that there are some interesting flavors in the Quest Bar line, and we’ll start off by taking a look at the ingredients.
List Of Ingredients
Protein Blend (Milk Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Isolate), Soluble Corn Fiber, Water, Erythritol, Almonds, Palm Kernal Oil, Natural Flavors. Contains Less Than 2% Of The Following: Sodium Caseinate, Sea Salt, Gum Arabic, Spirulina Extract (Color), Red Cabbage Extract (Color), Turmeric Extract (Color), Radish Extract (Color), Sucralose, Sunflower Lecithin.
The ingredients in the Quest Birthday Cake Protein Bar are not clean, but the list is short, which is always a good sign. Interestingly, you’ll notice there is quite a bit of coloring in this bar, but it isn’t of the artificial variety, which I have not seen much before in a protein bar. Keep in mind that there are almonds in the ingredients, which is not apparent when looking at the front of the packaging.
Important Nutrition Facts

This bar is actually pretty sound nutritionally. It is low in calories, in relation to most other protein bars Iv’e tried. It is also low in sugar and has a good amount of dietary fiber. I like the fact that this bar has no sugar alcohol.
My Honest Review
As I open the wrapper, I don’t notice much of a smell at all. The texture and consistency of the bar is soft, chewy and fresh. There is no crunch to speak of. The bar is dotted with different colors, blue, green and red, obviously to give it the appearance of sprinkles on a birthday cake.
Around the bar, it appears as though there is a confectionery sugar ring. The middle of the bar is similar to vanilla birthday cake. The bar has virtually no protein taste al all and is moist.
I am a bit surprised at how sweet the bar actually is, considering it is low in sugar. The taste is satisfying and enjoyable. I could definitely see myself picking up one of these bars for a mid day snack. The bar eats like a candy bar, as it is very sweet and sugary, but along with 21g protein and 14g of dietary fiber, it makes for a decent snack.
You could eat one of these protein bars before of after a workout to boost up the protein intake. I would drink a beverage with this bar, like a bottle of water, or even a bottle of coconut water, like I am doing. I don’t consider this a meal replacement bar, as the calories are relatively low. It is definitely tasty, and I would suggest giving it a try if you like the flavor of vanilla birthday cake.
