Pure Protein Red Velvet Protein Bar Review

This review is featuring Pure Protein Bars, and this particular bar is one that I have yet to find in a store. The Pure Protein Red Velvet Protein Bar I found on Amazon in a small box of six.Pure Protein Red Velvet Protein Bar

I will eventually review all of these protein bars, and many of the flavors will be purchased online. Other Pure Protein bars, such as Chewy Chocolate Chip and Chocolate Peanut Butter are widely available, but they have many other flavors that are harder to find, and also some that are limited edition, that I will review at a later time. This bar has a rather lengthy ingredient list which is typed below.

List Of Ingredients

Protein Blend (Milk Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Concentrate), Yogurt Flavored Coating [Maltitol, Fractionated Palm Kernel Oil, Calcium Caseinate, Milk Protein Concentrate, Nonfat Milk, Nonfat Yogurt Powder (Nonfat Milk and Lactic Acid). Soy Lecithin, Natural Flavor], Glycerin, Maltitol Syrup, Hydrolyzed Gelatin, Water, Chocolate Chips (Sugar, Milk, Unsweetened Chocolate, Cocoa Butter, Butterfat, Soy Lecithin, Natural Flavor), Cocoa, Cocoa Soy Protein Crisps [Soy Protein Isolate, Cocoa (processed with alkali), Tapioca Starch], Natural Flavors, Maltitol, Fractionated Palm Kernal Oil And Fractionated Palm Oil, Canola Oil, Soy Lecithin, Sucralose, Partially Defatted Peanut Flour, almond Butter, Red 40.

So, as you can see, the ingredient list is long, with much of the same ingredients that are in many of the Pure Protein Bars. This bar has coloring in it also, which I haven’t seen much of yet in my tastings of many protein bars.

The Pure Protein Line rarely disappoints when it comes to flavor, so I can deal with the food coloring once in a while. Needless to say, this bar is not clean.

Important Nutrition Facts

Serving Size – 1 Bar, Calories 190, Total Fat 5g, Saturated Fat 4g, Trans Fat 0g, Cholesterol 10mg, Sodium 120mg, Potassium 100mg, Total Carbohydrate 17g, Dietary Fiber less than 1g, Sugars 3g, Sugar Alcohol 13g, Protein 20g.

This bar has virtually no dietary fiber, and has a high amount of sugar alcohol, so keep that in mind if sugar alcohol bothers your system.

My Honest Review

The Red Velvet bar has a mild chocolate smell as I opened the packaging. The flavor is mild but sweet, and the texture is soft and chewy, and just a bit grainy, but not bad. The bar is part moist, but also part dry. If you try it, you’ll see what I mean.

It eats like a candy bar, and has a mild protein taste, but nothing that would make me stop eating it. The taste satisfying, if not a bit peculiar. This bar doesn’t taste like anything I’ve tried before, and I like it. I don’t love it though.Pure Protein Red Velvet Protein Bar

There is a lot going on in terms of layering. It is covered with a white coating around the bar, with a layer of white sugary goodness on top. Underneath is a layer that reminds me of a chocolate cake consistency, with chocolate chips throughout.

The Red Velvet flavor is unique as well as the texture. I ate the six that I received in the mail, not all at one time, of course, and would purchase them again.

At 190 calories, it is a perfect bar for snacking. It is not a meal replacement, and have a beverage with it if you decide to try the bar. I drank a bottle of water when I consumed it. This is a good tasting bar that I suggest you try. You shouldn’t be disappointed.
