Pure Protein Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar Review

This is a review of another one of my personal favorite protein bars. The Pure Protein Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar is a steady go to bar for me, especially in the morning coupled with a can of Monster Energy.

Now I know what you must be thinking. A protein bar and an energy drink for breakfast isn’t exactly a model

of nutrition. You would be correct with that statement. However, I have been doing this for quite a while now, and it is working with my weight loss endeavors.

I am in no way suggesting that you eat breakfast like me. I am not a bodybuilder trying to get cut for an upcoming contest. But if it works, why not, right? Full disclosure, this is not a health food site. It is a site about protein bars, so there you go:)

Actually, this particular protein bar is not bad, both nutritionally and in terms of taste. I love me some peanut butter and chocolate, and this bare fits the bill nicely.

It is not overly sweet, and it also doesn’t have an unpleasant taste like many other protein bars in the market. The ingredients and macros are as pictured below, and there are bars out there that have much more sugar and carbs than this peanut butter bar.

Ingredients and Macros

Like I will always state in my reviews, take into consideration how sugar alcohols affect your system and partake accordingly. The low sugar content does give way a bit to the sugar alcohols, so read the ingredients!

My Honest Review

This protein bar has a thin layer of chocolate around it, and in the middle it has a chewy peanut butter flavor throughout. There is a bit of a crunch to it also, which gives it a nice texture which becomes chewy and smooth as you finish a bite. It is not too sweet, and there is not that unpleasant protein taste that is prevalent in many other protein bars.

Yes, I’ll say it, it kind of reminds me of eating a candy bar. With 20g of protein per bar, and low sugar content, this is a bar that you could eat for a snack, or after a workout. Or before a workout, whatever you prefer.

Nutritionally, it has merit. I don’t consider it a meal replacement bar, in spite of the fact that I like to eat one for breakfast in the morning. At 200 calories, it is not considered a meal replacement, unless you eat two of them, or add some fruit or other food with it.

I would recommend this protein bar, it tastes great, and has a good amount of protein with a low amount of sugar. Just watch out for the sugar alcohol if it affects your system. Pure Protein has a winning combination of taste and nutrition, and I eat them regularly.

Great review, I have a tendency to skip breakfast and either just have a protein bar and shake myself. I have never tried Pure Protein bars but I have seen them in stores before. I might have to give them a try.

    Hi
This is an interesting post, i miss breakfast every morning as i am never hungry until about ten is that the wrong thing to do ?i have never heard of the chocolate peanut butter bar although it sounds tasty and good that it is full of protein which sounds great to me.
Would it be a bar you could have everyday or is that too much protein?
    Thanks 🙂

Hi Sharon, these Pure Protein bars are fine to have once a day, in my opinion. It is not too much protein, but there are sugar alcohols in them, some people have have gastrointestinal discomfort with sugar alcohols, so keep that in mind. I wouldn’t have more than one a day myself personally, but that’s up to you. Thanks for stopping by!
