Pure Protein Chocolate Deluxe Review

As I was getting ready to review the latest protein bar, I thought that I would put the bar in the freezer for a while. I don’t usually put protein bars in the freezer, just the occasional candy bar. But I decided to put the Pure Protein Chocolate Deluxe bar in there, mainly because it is solid chocolate throughout, and I thought it would be kind of like eating a fudgesicle. I was a bit off on this assumption.

This is one of the bars I eat on a regular basis, so I thought I would change it up a little. Actually, this bar is much better at room temperature, in my opinion.

Normally, I really enjoy the rich chocolate taste that this bar has, almost like dark chocolate. However, freezing it didn’t really do the taste justice.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a very good tasting protein bar, but the colder it gets, the more the protein flavor comes out. One of the downfalls of many of the protein bars in the market is that they taste a bit too artificial, too much like actual protein powder.

In my world, the whole reason to consume protein bars is to avoid this bland taste. So, basically, if you try this particular bar, I would suggest you don’t freeze it first, because otherwise it is really tasty.

List Of Ingredients

Protein Blend (Milk Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Concentrate), Chocolate Flavored Coating (Maltitol, Fractionated Palm Kernal Oil, Whey Protein Concentrate, Cocoa [processed with alkali], Calcium Carbonate, Natural Flavors, Soy Lecithin, Sucralose), Hydrolyzed Collagen, Glycerin, Cocoa Powder, Water, Milk Chocolate Drops (Sugar, Whole Milk Power, Chocolate Liqueur, Cocoa Butter, Milk Fat, Soy Lecithin, Natural Vanilla Flavor), Maltitol Syrup, Peanut Flour, Natural Flavors, Sucralose, Almond Butter, Soy Lecithin.

Contains milk, soy, peanut, and tree nut (almond) ingredients.

These bars will not be a good choice if you have certain food allergies, so keep this in mind. This is the reason that I post ingredients in my reviews, so you know exactly what you are putting in your body. I kind of care like that!

My Honest Review

This is one of my favorite protein bars which I eat regularly. It is full of chocolate through the entire bar, from the coating around the bar, to the chewy chocolate middle, with small chocolate chips throughout.

I will admit that there is a bit of a protein flavor to the bar, which is made worse by freezing it, which I already stated. But most people probably won’t freeze the bar, I would imagine.

The fact that there is only 3g of sugar in the bar is a good thing, but there are 4g of sugar alcohol, so keep that in mind when deciding on whether to try it. The taste is well worth giving it a try.

The bar is Rich and chewy, and tastes like a mild dark chocolate bar. I can definitely imagine it tastes great with a glass of milk, or even a glass of cold water.

My choice of beverage with this bar, as well as the other Pure Protein bars that I’ve tried up to this point, is a can of Monster Energy. I don’t recommend this practice, but for me it is like a morning ritual that I have followed for some time. So it works for me. I suggest you definitely drink a beverage of some sort with any of these protein bars to get the best effect. As for the Pure Protein bars, it says it on the packaging.

As with other Pure Protein bars, the calories are relatively low per bar. So this is a great between meal snack, or a bit of a protein jolt before or after a workout.

It is not considered a meal replacement bar, even though I myself eat them in the morning. I don’t suspect you will pack on large quantities of muscle consuming these bars, so take that for what its worth. It is nice tasting, if not a bit off tasting due to the slight protein taste. But it doesn’t bother me, it is quite tasty. I would suggest you give them a try.
