In today’s post, I will be reviewing the second protein bar that I received from Mauer Sports Nutrition in the variety pack that was mailed to me. I will be tasting the Mauer Dark Chocolate Strawberry Protein Bar. The first bar from Mauer that I tried was the Coconut Cashew, which was pretty tasty. I plan on reviewing all the flavors in the variety pack.
The ingredients in Mauer’s protein bars are relatively clean as compared to other bars that I have tried so far, and they state that their bars are made up of 70% organic ingredients. This is a good thing, as I am always looking for nutrition, as well as taste, and if they can pull of a good tasting bar that is nutritious also, that is something I can always support.
List Of Ingredients
Protein Blend (Milk Protein, Organic Pea Protein, Whey Protein, Organic Sacha Inchi), Organic Cashew Butter, Organic Inulin, Organic Tapioca Syrup, Organic White Chocolate (Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Milk Powder, Soy Lecithin (Non GMO), Organic Vanilla Extract, Organic Ground Vanilla), Organic Berry Flavor, Organic Glycerin, Organic Strawberries, Nuvous (Organic Stevia, Organic Orange Flavor, Organic Lycii Berry Extract), and Organic Quinoa Crisps.
Organic Dark Chocolate Coating (Organic Chocolate Liquor, Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Cocoa Butter).
I really like the fact that there are so many organic ingredients. For someone like me, who needs a protein bar to taste good, many bars tend to be filled with a lot of sugar. I eat them because they I like their taste, but if Mauer protein bars can deliver good taste and solid nutrition, that would be a revelation to me.
I was a bit intrigued with the ingredient Organic Lycii Berry Extract, which I had not heard of until I tried the first protein bar by Mauer. I could not do justice to the description of this ingredient, so I linked to a good article to check out here. There is some good info, and I learned something new.

My Honest Review
The first thing that I noticed is that the bar is thick and heavy for it’s size. When I opened the wrapper I immediately got a sweet strawberry smell.
There is a dark chocolate coating around the bar, and it is not layered. The bar was quite moist, but it’s appearance is dry. I really like the texture, it is dense and thick, and it is not all that grainy.
There isn’t much of an aftertaste, and although it has a bit of a protein taste, it is not bothersome to me. It is sweet, but not overly so.
There is no real crunch to speak of, but the dark chocolate and strawberry flavors are very prevalent. This bar is very tasty, bordering on delicious, and I could easily see myself purchasing a box of this flavor in the future.
I love the fact that it is very nutritious and yet it tastes great! Mauer did a great job producing the Dark Chocolate Strawberry flavor.
This bar has 300 calories, so it is on the high side, however it doesn’t bother me at all. I would definitely eat this with a bottle of water before or after a workout, or as a mid day snack to get extra protein in my diet.
I would highly suggest giving this bar a try, it is both very satisfying as far as taste goes, and at 21g of protein, this would make a great addition to get more quality protein in my daily diet. Try it, I hope you’ll agree that this is a great choice!
