Mauer Coconut Cashew Protein Bar Review

Mauer Sports Nutrition is a company started by Kenny Mauer, an NBA referee in his 32nd year in the league. I don’t remember where I first heard of this company, but not long ago I found myself on their website, ordering a variety pack of seven of their protein bars, as well as two weight loss bars. I plan on going through all 9 bars and giving my opinions on them. The first protein bar that I will taste is the Mauer Coconut Cashew.Mauer Coconut Cashew Protein Bar

This company puts a lot of emphasis on eating a protein bar with healthy, clean ingredients, as you will see from the ingredients list forthcoming. This is one of the cleanest list of ingredients that I have seen yet in a protein bar, and I am excited to give this bar a try.

List Of Ingredients

Protein Blend (Milk Protein, Organic Pea Protein, Whey Protein, Organic Sacha Inchi), Organic Cashew Butter, Organic Inulin, Organic Tapioca Syrup, Organic Coconut, Organic Cashew Pieces, Organic Coconut Flavor, Organic Glycerin, Nuvous (Organic Stevia, Organic Orange Flavor, Organic Lycii Berry Extract), and Organic Quinoa Crisps.

As you can see, this list of ingredients is much different from most that I have reviewed so far. This bar is one of the healthiest I have tried to date, and there is an ingredient that we should check out. I won’t try to explain this ingredient in the Coconust Cashew protein bar, but will direct you to a good article that will explain it better than I can. You can read about Sacha Inchi here.

This bar also contains pea protein, which I haven’t cared for when tasting other protein bars that had it, but I will give you my honest opinion as always when reviewing this bar. I reviewed a Now Cow Chocolate Fudge Brownie Protein bar with pea protein, you can check it out here

My Honest Review

When I first opened the wrapper, I really didn’t smell much of anything. I would say maybe a very light nutty smell, but not overpowering at all.

This is a solid bar, without any layering. The texture is at first a bit dry, but moistens up as I chew. It is a bit grainy and chalky tasting, but it is not that bad.Mauer Coconut Cashew Protein Bar

The flavors of coconut and cashew are very mild. This really is no crunch to the bar, and the texture is palatable. This bar as a unique flavor which works well, and tastes satisfying and filling.

I am drinking a bottle of water with the bar, which I recommend. This bar doesn’t eat like a sweet candy bar, but rather like a typical protein bar does. There is a protein flavor, but it does not turn me off.

It tastes healthy, although there is a slight aftertaste, but it is a great bar for snacking or eating along with a workout program to gain muscle. I am looking forward to trying all the bars from Mauer Nutrition, and I would suggest giving this bar a try if you don’t want something really sweet. It hits the spot nicely. I like this flavor.
