This is the last cookie in the variety pack that I received from Lenny & Larry’s. There are three protein brownies in the pack also, which I will review in upcoming posts. In this post I will review the Lenny & Larry’s Chocolate Chip Cookie. This is the plain chocolate chip cookie.
All the other cookies that I have tried from Lenny & Larry’s I have enjoyed. They all basically taste good, so I am assuming that this last cookie will be good as well. There are other limited addition cookies that Lenny & Larry’s comes out with on occasion, and if I can get single versions of them I will review them in the future. Let’s take a look at the ingredients.
List Of Ingredients
Enriched Wheat Flour (Wheat Flour, Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamine Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid), Protein Blend (Vital Wheat Gluten, Pea Protein, Rice Protein), Palm Margarine (Palm Oil, Palm Fractions, Water, Salt, Emulsifiers [Sunflower Lecithin, Distilled Monoglycerides], Natural Flavor, Citric Acid, Mixed Tocopherols [Antioxidant], Vitamin A, Beta-Carotene [Color]), Cane Sugar, Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (Unsweetened Chocolate, Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Dextrose, Natural Vanilla), Vegetable Glycerine, Chicory Root Fiber, Invert Sugar, Oligofructose, Sunflower Lecithin, Baking Soda, Natural Flavor, Salt, Cultured Dextrose, Xanthan Gum, Guar Gum.
The ingredients are basically the same across all the cookies by Lenny & Larry, with some minor exceptions.
Important Nutrition Facts
Serving Size – 1/2 Cookie, Calories 200, Total Fat 8g, Saturated Fat 4g, Trans Fat 0g, Cholesterol 0mg, Sodium 260mg, Total Carbohydrates 33g, Dietary Fiber 5g, Sugars 12g, Sugar Alcohols 0g, Protein 8g.
I have mentioned in every cookie review from Lenny & Larry’s that you need to double the nutrition facts that are listed because they are only for 1/2 cookie. I like the fact that there are no sugar alcohols in any of these cookies, however, there is quite a bit of actual sugar, as well as carbs, so keep this in mind if you are on a low sugar or low carb diet.
My Honest Review
As I open the package, I get an immediate smell of chocolate, which is not strong. The cookie is thick and dense, and as I take a first bite, it starts out as a bit dry.
As I continue to chew, it moistens up quite a bit, but it is not as moist as some other cookies from Lenny & Larry’s that Iv’e tried. There is no crunch at all.
I do detect a bit of a protein taste, but it is not overpowering. Though the cookie is not as moist as some others, it is fresh. The chocolate chips are the usual milk chocolate fare, and there is a slight aftertaste, but it is actually quite good. There is a hint of something at the end of each chew, almost a fruity taste.
As chocolate chip cookies go, it is actually rather bland, but the flavor is mild and satisfying. The cookie is filling, and I am washing it down with some coconut water. I would suggest a beverage if you decide to try the cookie.
I must admit, out of all the cookies Iv’e tried, this is my least favorite by Lenny & Larry’s. But don’t let that deter you from trying it, because I definitely like it, just not as much as the others.
This cookie would make a great snack to get some extra protein and fiber in your diet, but don’t overindulge, as there is a lot of sugar and carbs. In moderation is a sound nutritional choice. Give it a try.
