I recently was doing a bit of shopping on Amazon, looking for interesting protein bars to purchase. As I was scrolling through the countless numbers of protein bars out there, I came across a company called Hemplete Nutrition LLC, out of Los Angeles. They had a three pack of their bars to try, so I decided to give them a chance. After all, hemp is a big thing lately, so I wanted to see what all the hype is about. This review will be of the Hemplete Cashew Berry Hemp Protein Bar.
I know basically nothing about hemp, except for its relation to marijuana, so I am not in a position to discuss it here. However, I found a good article to read up on it if you so desire, and you can do so here.
The ingredients list for this bar is very short, and seems pretty clean, so let’s take a look.
List Of Ingredients
Organic Cashew Butter, Hemp Protein Concentrate, Non-GMO Soluble Tapioca Fiber, Water, Strawberries, Organic Cashews, Organic Coconut Nectar, Blueberries, Organic Hemp Seeds, Organic Vanilla Extract, Sea Salt, Stevia.
As I have stated before on this site, sometimes less is more, and with the ingredients in this bar I think this is the case here. I have no idea what to expect from this bar in terms of taste, as I have never consumed hemp seeds or hemp protein before, so this will be completely new to me.

I like the fact that this bar has no cholesterol, no sugar alcohol, and has 10g of dietary fiber. The protein in this bar is not low, but I have seen bars with much more. Let’s try this out.
My Honest Review
First off all, I am drinking a bottle of water with this product, and I would suggest you consume a beverage also if you decide to try it. When I opened the wrapper, The smell I received was, let’s just say, earthy. It is unlike any other aroma I have gotten when smelling a protein bar. That is not to say that it is unpleasant, just different.
The bar is a solid brown color, with bits of cashew pieces. The texture is a bit grainy, but not too much so. The flavor of the berries and the cashews in the bar is extremely mild. I would even say that the flavors are tucked away in the background, more like an essence.
What I do taste, however, is what I am guessing are the hemp seeds and hemp protein, but I have nothing to compare this too, as I have never tasted it before. From what I have read about hemp, it is extremely healthy, and the bar tastes just that, very healthy.
I must admit that even though this bar is not very sweet at all, and the flavor of berries and cashews are extremely mild, that I do kind of like what I am eating here. I didn’t go into this tasting expecting much in the way of sugary sweetness, like a regular candy bar, so I was a bit prepared for something bland. And it is bland to an extent, but it works.
I think this protein bar would make for a great, healthy snack for someone who is into hemp, or its unconventional flavor. I am kind of impressed with it, and I have two more to try, so we shall see how they taste later on.
But really, this would be good for people who like to eat healthy snacks, without regard for a sugary tasting bar. I would suggest you give it a try, just don’t expect it to be a snack that will satisfy your sweet tooth. It is good to try a bar that is healthy, clean, nutritious, and even a bit exotic. At least it feels this way for me.
